Reflection and looking to the future =)

ahh reflection time, well not really but a lil bit...=p

well, it's been like half a year since graduation, n as expected everyone's separated in a way, most of us are around still but dun really meet up n all (except for our now-not-so-frequent monday nite pool sessions) but i guess that's how working life is like rite? go out early in the morning, come back in the evening, dun feel like doing anything, ie stoning big time lol...@.@

hehe just as an update, am working at redarc, some power conversion products company that builds stuff that converts 12V to 24V etc etc, lotsa products depending on applications n all...me still duno many of their products tho so am still lost in meetings hehe...as for the job, mine consists of mainly battery testing, namely charging n discharging of 12V car batteries in order to find that magical thingy called state of charge....with not much success so far lol...=p

enuff of yapping bout me job n all...h0wz everyone? miss those days where we were young n free...free to skip lectures which were too boring (coleman anyone? dani dun get angry ya...backstabbing ur godfather xD), free to banter on where to go for lunch (CAG, mei wei, penang, hj....ahhhh those were the days yea), n most of all, free to go out n have fun whenever u wana =), as it is, can't skip work without a MC nowadays hehe...speaking of which, i took a MC the other day cos went to the doc to consult regarding my ankle, am happy to report that i came out with a clean bill of health ^^...almost 100 percent back to normal d....

Sleepless in Adelaide

Hello Noobies.

Seems like Gaius is the only one who's posting, I shall drop a post too. Thanks for the updates. Good to hear that all is going well. Imagining Gaius after NS....

Well, a little about me..as of end of next week (29/04/07) it will be officially 3 months working with Parsons Brinckerhoff. Should be expecting an interview with me manager and HR to reflect on my performance and my future direction with the firm. Though 3 months, it felt like it has been ages. To be honest, I'm in sorta a blur right now, thinking about what lies ahead...I sometimes do wonder how do you guys feel at this point in life...you know....because come to think of it..we've been away for so long...were we the same after boarding our first flight to Adelaide...have we changed much..or are we still the same..

Anyways..back to the topic..my day to day work have been designing electrical systems..more specifically low voltage distribution(under 11kV), dealing with transformers, circuit breakers, cable sizes, mostly EES stuff. Next, I'll be working on the communications reticulation side of things. Also, been exposed to project management stuffs, which include writing scope of works(cut and paste work) and finally, drafting (a really good way to fill your time).
The main project or should I say the ONLY project I'm working on is the Prominent Hill project..that's 80km NOrth West of Adelaide city. It's a copper mine and the client, Oxiana who awarded the design and construct contract to Fluor who then engaged us to design. They wanted a 400 people accomodation village in middle of no where..equipped with swimming pools, gym, tennis courts, spa,an internet cafe! Sometimes I feel like I'm playing SimCity.

On another point, working has bought me another perspective on life. While studying was straineous at times and encumbered with deadlines and assignments(which I thank god I have eeenoobs to always rely on), it was fun. No matter how hard or rough the going gets, I always know that I'm not alone facing it. But in work, everyone has their own role and responsibilities. There isn't a common thing to endure for (a degree, an assignment, project etc). I can't help but feel a sense of......loneliness? lol...

To summarize my incoherent ramblings, I miss you guys..Rofl
As for the title of this post? It's one of my insomniac nights..and it's Monday morning..shitz..

Luv,
Des.

Greetings from Singapore

hey guys.. yupz, the blog has been pretty silent.. just thought i'd drop a message.

hmm.. so, what's been happening with me so far?? hmm.. work lar.. NS still some way to come. Starts in July so yar. will be working till then.. i actually passed my NAPFA test with silver.. that's the minimum grade to receive a 2 month reduction in my NS service. NAPFA is basically a fitness test inclusive of pull-ups, situps, running, shuttle run, sit and reach and standing broad jump.. and yupz.. had to train real hard. almost made gold but my sit and reach was disappointing. oh well.. it makes no difference.. it was definitely a great blessing to pass.. had to train plenty.. when i came back i could do about 3 pull-ups.. the test? i did 8!!! and i was sick too.. so yar. i'm proud of myself.. and thankful to God.

okok. hmm i'm working 2 jobs now.. well.. i got 2 seperate duties.. one is to help my Aunt with admin work and the other is more project based. I'm "project manager" for a supply management upgrade project.. hehe.. no lar.. nothing too technical or difficult. i try coordinate everything. there's a consultant helping us develop the system. A bit scary at times coz i have to be more responsible over the whole thing. but i'm being paid a dollar more per hour! lol. okok.

Other than that, erm. oh! Happy Easter everybody! If u don't know, it's a very special time for us Christians coz it is in memory of one of the most significant event in Christian history. Anyway, let's see anything else to update.. not really leh.. let's hear from u guys lar.. hey maybe post some movie reviews.. thinking of watching some soon.. like Mr Bean or TMNT.. or Meet the Robinsons.. anything worth watchin at all? okok.. that's it from me. hope all is well.. let's hear some updates ppl!
